travel-packing-tipsPacking for your upcoming holiday is never fun regardless of the destination, but even when you’re due to head out to the beautiful island of St Lucia it’s hard to get excited about the packing process you’re going to have to undertake before you get there.

In order to make sure you look like a goddess as you lap up the waves of St Lucia, consider the following four points when packing for your holiday to not only make doing so as easy as pie, but to also make sure you don’t leave your favourite bikini behind.

1) Make a List
Making a packing list for your upcoming St Lucian holiday is crucial to ensuring you take with you everything you planned on taking, and don’t wake up on your first morning on the island only to find that you’ve left all of your sandals back home.

Keep in mind that you don’t want this list to be too long (see points two and four below) though if there are certain items you definitely want to take without question, then by all means take them. Once you have your list sorted, place every item on it into your suitcases one by one, making sure you check it again the night before you leave to ensure you didn’t accidentally miss anything.

2) Use Hotel-Provided Items
This is much easier to do than you’ll likely think, as many of the hotels on St Lucia provide a wide range of items that you’re allowed to use during the duration of your stay, allowing you to leave many toiletries and other items behind, freeing up valuable suitcase space. Many popular all inclusive St Lucia holidays in particular have a wide-range of hotel-provided items you can use from the moment you arrive – very handy if you’ve been sweating since the moment you touched down at the airport!

Note that when you us the items available to you in your hotel, rather than bringing them all the way to St Lucia yourself, you’re improving your carbon footprint, and in turn helping the environment, as to drag bottled toiletries halfway across the world isn’t environmentally friendly.

3) Pad Delicate Items With Clothing
This is an especially useful packing tip for your journey back home from St Lucia, as there’s a good chance you’ll have bought a number of souvenirs during your holiday. Great examples of inventive packing in this manner are:

  • Placing socks and underwear into cups, mugs, and teapots,
  • Wrapping t-shirts around laptops,
  • Placing shawls around your sandals to stop them from flattening.

4) Only Pack Essential Items
It’s so important to only pack essential items you’ll actually need during the course of your holiday, not items you think you’ll need. One of the most significant health and safety tips I could give you surrounding travel, in fact, is to not take too much with you – as the larger and heavier your suitcase is the better chance there is of you hurting yourself.

Once you’ve decided what items are provided by your hotel in St Lucia (see point two) you should also opt to exclude several other cheap items that you can buy while you’re there, such as beach towels and sunblock. Put aside a certain amount of money that will tide you by regarding these items once you arrive, and leave the rest behind.

In conclusion, packing for your upcoming holiday is never fun regardless of the destination, but even when you’re due to head out to the beautiful island of St Lucia it’s hard to get excited about the packing process you’re going to have to undertake before you get there.
