Honeymoon DestinationPlanning the wedding is an exciting time but planning the honeymoon is often ever more so. You will surely find yourself regularly day dreaming about being on that tranquil white sand beach or exploring and sight seeing in your favourite city. The only hard part is often the act of choosing a destination that suits both you and your partner so that you both remember it as one of the best vacations of your life. Sometimes the best trips are those that are completely unplanned and un-researched, so the best way might be to simply close your eyes and put a pin in a map. However, for those who like to have more control, these tips should help you to figure out your ideal honeymoon destination.

What’s your budget?

This is probably the most important thing that you need to figure out before you can really continue with the planning. Assess how much you can afford to spend and how much you are willing to spend on your honeymoon and then you will have a better idea of how to progress.

What’s your ideal climate?

Another important consideration to make is the kind of climate you would hope for and require in order to make the most out of your time. Some people love to lie out in the sun, whilst others prefer to be wrapped up warm enjoying a hike or skiing holiday. Discuss this with your partner as knowing the kind of weather you want will drastically reduce your options.

Action or complete relaxation?

The nature of your holiday is the next thing to think about. Do you like to keep busy with lots of activities and sports? Is your ideal setting a city with plenty of history, culture and sightseeing or would you rather be on a beautiful white sand beach somewhere? Small islands such as Lord Howein Australia offer a good chance for relaxation whilst a big city such as New York has lots of sights and culture.

Near or far?

Not everyone likes to travel far and sitting on a plane for ten or more hours can be a real drag. Think about how long you would expect to be travelling and remember to factor the time it takes to get there and back into your overall vacation time. Also remember that you don’t even have to go abroad to have a fantastic honeymoon and there are probably plenty of places in your home country that you have never visited and would make the perfect destination.

The proposal

Much of the advice regarding choosing the honeymoon destination can also be followed if you’re planning on popping the questions whilst you’re away. During a romantic holiday is many women’s idea of the perfect proposal and what better way to enter into your life as a committed couple than whilst spending time relaxing and having fun without a single stress or worry in the world. Most people like to propose somewhere intimate and quiet and again Australia’s Lord Howe Island is a good choice if you don’t like crowds, whilst a heavily populated city such as Sydney could be more dramatic.
