national parks in ArgentinaArgentina is a fascinating country that presents world famous tango dance, European football, incredible landscapes and nearly all types of natural resorts. Its unconquered temper, rich culture and friendly people make it one of top destinations in South America.

Argentina stands out from all other country by the variety of its national parks that we are going to discuss in the article below.

  • The number one national park in Argentina is a beautiful and mesmerizing Iguassu. The second largest waterfall in the world has 250 craters located on the Brazilian border. The park was formed in 1934 and since then it is one of the most visit places in the country. The park surprises you from the entrance with “Ivita Reta Center”, that shows the 10 000 history of the place: species, plants and environmental changes. There are many ways to explore the park, the most adrenaline one is to take a boat tour.
  • Los Glacaries. This frozen land is situated in Santa Cruz province. Covering 4450 km it mainly consists of giant glaciers and crystal clear lakes. The second largest national park in Argentina was formed in 1937. The total area is divided into two parts, each part belongs to one of the two largest lakes. Altogether, 30% of the park is covered with ice. This place is magnifying and inspiring. One can feel the little meaning of the man on the Earth and the magnificent power of the nature. It is recommended to explore the park with professional guides, as most of the places are quite dangerous. If you decide to go on your own, you should install GPS tracking device like pumpic.com in case you get lost, as there is very little connection in this giant glacier world.
  • Nahuel Huapi. One more incredible national park in Argentina is located in the southern part of the country. With a territory of 785 000 ha it became of the dearest places for a vacation in Argentina. The park was formed in 1903 in order to save the highest volcano “Tronador” with total height of 3554 meters. The second biggest attraction of Nahuel Huapi is the lake, which is 70km in length. The entire territory is very peaceful; it has a wide forest and incredible wildlife. The tours include the boat tour,  helicopter tour and hiking with two or three sleepovers in the park. There are also hotels and motopark where you can stay for a week.
  • Tierra del Fuego. Tierra del Fuego or Fire Island is one of the most incredible places one can visit in Argentina. Opened by a famous adventurer Magellan nearly a century ago it stands out from other parks by its untouched nature and wildlife. The land was inhabited 10 000 years ago by Indian tribes that are still presented in the area. One thing a traveler should do is visit the world most southern place “El Fin del Mundo” (end of the world) where you will meet real Indian tribes, try incredible food, see hundreds of penguins and maybe even catch whales that cross this land during fall.

Altogether, there are 29 national parks in Argentina.  Each is interesting and different.
